大学外语教学部现有专职教师35人；副教授4人，讲师31人；博士（含在读）9人；80%专任教师具有海外留学或访学经历。近年来，本系部教师主持或参与浙江省哲学社会科学规划项目、浙江省高等教育课堂改革项目、杭州市哲社科规划项目以及浙江省教育厅一般规划课题等各类研究课题多项，在国内外核心期刊发表多篇研究论文，教师中多人多次荣获“三育人”“教学十佳”等荣誉称号。
大学外语教学部承担全校全日制本科两个年级近7000名学生的公共英语教学工作，一直致力于教学模式的改革和教学团队的建设，现有大学英语教学团队、拓展课程教学团队（包括新闻传播英语、艺术人文英语、传媒科技英语和学术英语四个方向）和研究生英语教学团队。目前开设《大学外语1》、《大学外语2》、《大学英语3》、《大学英语4》、《新闻传播英语1、2》、《艺术人文英语1、2》、《传媒科技英语1、2》、《学术英语1、2》、研究生英语等主干课程，并开设有大学英语四六级辅导、对外汉语教学入门、TED英语视听说、雅思英语等一系列公共选修课。
The Department of Foreign Language Teaching currently has 35 full-time faculty members, including 4 associate professors and 31 lecturers. Among them, 9 hold doctoral degrees (including those currently pursuing a PhD). 80% of the full-time teachers have experience studying or conducting research abroad. In recent years, faculty members have led or participated in various research projects, including those funded by the Zhejiang Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Planning Project, Zhejiang Provincial Higher Education Classroom Reform Project, Hangzhou Municipal Philosophy and Social Science Planning Project, and general planning projects by the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province. They have published a number of research papers in core journals both domestically and internationally, and several faculty members have received honors such as “Three All-Round Educators” and “Top Ten Teachers.”
The Department of Foreign Language Teaching is responsible for the English teaching of nearly 7,000 students in two full-time undergraduate grades and it has been committed to reforming teaching models and building its teaching teams. The department currently has teams for College English teaching, Extended Curriculum teaching (including four directions: English for Journalism and Communication, English for Arts and Humanities, English for Media and Technology, and Academic English), and Graduate English teaching. Courses offered include “College English 1” “College English 2” “College English 3” “College English 4” “English for Journalism and Communication 1,2” “English for Arts and Humanities 1,2” “English for Media and Technology 1,2” “Academic English 1,2” and “graduate-level English”, as well as a series of optional courses such as CET-4 and CET-6 tutorial classes, introductory courses in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, and TED English Listening and Speaking.
